What Should Be The Method Of Selling Cars – Online Or Offline?

As much as weird as it may sound online purchases are more feasible even with respect to cars. Car purchase is one of the most difficult decisions especially, if it is your first car. And people take months or even years before they can come to peace with a single choice. It is thus important to do your homework well before you go make a decision and then seal the deal. Internet or online databases of cars at sale, can be a very good platform for research.

One can just log on to one of those ‘sell you car’ websites and get a good look of the cars in the market. It is easy, convenient and so much less time consuming – since you actually do not have to present in person to look at the cars, that widens your horizon of search. In fact there are a number of online tools helping you assess the value of cars, be it for selling or buying. They give you a list of aspects that generally contribute to the worth of the car and these should be kept in mind when ascertaining a value on a car – be it new or old. These aspects are as follows:

• The condition of your car: This would include - the price of the car when it was newly bought, the age of the car and number of previous owners (if any), the usage, kilometer the car has run and also the mileage of the car (which can be a tempting factor when buying a car). The condition of the car should include the whole of the exteriors and interiors and kind of disappointment can close the deal. So the sellers must be cautious about it. A minor glitch and that can wreck the reputation. Make sure the first impression of your car stays well before you go about selling your used car.

• The location : It depends on the regions and place of purchases. Some cars are preferred in some states/ cities and thus promise better resale. Also a car registered in one state or city gets comparatively lesser price if sold in a different state or city. So sell carsaccordingly.

• The season : It also depends on the season. Convertibles sell better in the summer months while 4x4s sell in winter.

• The brand : The brand name is something that attracts the buyers, wins their trust and also decide the depreciation rates of the cars. Cars manufactured by companies like Maruti, Hyundai, Honda and Toyota offer better resale values in India since these are mass favoured cars. And in general Japanese cars get better resale than the European, American and Asian cars in India.

• The Segment : It is an important deciding factor too. The depreciation is much higher in the higher segments. A premium luxury sedan depreciates much faster than an economy hatchback. Thus Honda, Subaru, Hyundaiand Toyota top the list for retaining higher resale values more than the luxury car brands like Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Mercedes, and Audi

• The urgency factor of seller and buyer: The rule is simple, more you are desperate to close the deal, more do you lose money. So the tip is to keep calm and not let the seller know about your urgency so much so that they start taking advantage of it. The seller on the other hand will want to exploit this particular aspect of the buyer.

• Test drive of the car : This can be a deal breaker. So make sure your car is comfortable from within because after all, comfort and convenience are all that matter. And if a seller is willing to pay thousands that means he expects a minimum of comfort from the ride and that is to be taken care of.

Now for the last aspect, one would have to log off from the internet and come offline to get a good look at the car in person. For all the rest internet is there. So if you are thinking “how should I sell my car?”, remember, ‘online’ is not such a bad option.
